FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you only have bikes for kids? We have bikes of all sizes and styles! Many kids ages 12 and up ride 26″ bikes which are full sized, or as some say, adult bikes. Some adults ride even smaller bikes like 24″ size bikes or smaller. The point is, that people and bikes come in all sizes and we have something for everyone. Through our Bike Giveaway and Bike to Work Programs, we give bikes to older teens and adults in need of bikes for access to employment. Bikes are transportation and transportation is a basic and critical need for life in Wisconsin.

Want to receive a bike? We sell used bikes at the lowest rates in Madison. If you want to participate in the spring Bike Giveaway Event, you’ll need to contact a 501c3 nonprofit serving financially challenged individuals, apply through your child’s school social worker, or find a municipality or tribe that is applying to participate. We provide bikes to organizations and they select our 2.000 recipients annually. Through this collaborative process, we can ensure that our bikes are going to those most in need. 32-40 organizations receive bikes annually.

View our News page to see who our bike recipient organizations are for the year. Subscribe to our e-newsletter by scrolling to the bottom of any page on our website to receive monthly updates and reminders.

How can I donate a bike? Bring your bike to our shop at 354 Coyier Lane, Madison, WI 53713 and enter the building through the blue door. If you need help unloading, just ask one of us to help you bring them in. We accept bikes of all sizes and styles and prefer gently used bikes because they are less costly for us to restore. We will take bikes that cannot be saved with a financial donation of your choosing.

How can I help make bicycle based transportation more accessible to underserved communities? Volunteering, making a financial donation, and donating bikes are needs we have year-round. We are a small organization with a small budget and although bikes are donated to us for free, they are not free to fully restore and tune up so they are safe to ride. This is costly, labor intensive work. Your support is greatly appreciated!
