Our Refurb-Cycle is October through March and is our highest demand season for volunteers with over 3,000 volunteer hours donated each year! This is when we are working to refurbish 2,000 bikes for the spring Bike Giveaway Program. Volunteers are welcome year-round, during the day or on some evenings. Group Volunteer Experience
Gather your colleagues, friends, and neighbors to make a difference for the people that rely on BFKWI’s services. Your team will tour the largest bike center in Wisconsin, assist with mission critical tasks, and help refurbish bicycles. Mission critical tasks can include cleaning bikes, reorganizing bikes, organizing bike parts, loading bikes into trucks, and more! Refreshments will be provided.
Group volunteer experiences occur on Fridays between the hours of 10:15am – 3:45pm (depending on which option you select). We have two time slots available to best suit your group. View the calendar below to see what Fridays are available. If a Friday does not list an organization, then it is most likely available. We do our best to update the calendar but if you want to be sure a date is free, it’s best to call 608-405-0385 us or email us.
Small Team
- For groups of 4 to 6 people
- 3-hour session(s) from 10:15 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 – 3:45pm
- Shop Hours are 10a – 4p Fridays
- $150 donation suggested
Large Team
- For groups of 7 to 12 people
- 3-hour session(s) from 10:15 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 – 3:45pm

BIKE SHOP HOURS: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs – 10a – 5pm; Fri 10 – 4pm, Sat 10 – 2pm. We are closed on Saturdays November-March.

YEAR-ROUND VOLUNTEER NEEDS
• Fall is bike collection season so we have opportunities to collect bikes on Saturdays in October and November.
• Fall, Winter & Spring are our Refurb-Cycle season so we have opportunities to refurbish bikes from October through March.
• March is our Bike Giveaway season where you can help us distribute bikes on Saturday between 10:30 am – 5:00 p.m. Subscribe to our e-news to stay up to date by scrolling to the bottom of the page and entering your email.
• Summer is our volunteer off-season but you can drop-in to refurbish bikes Monday through Friday during our open hours. In summer, we are busy selling used bikes to the public and providing fee based repairs for the public to raise funds to support our work.
