Bikes for Kids Wisconsin hosts over 220 volunteers each year with many of them coming to us through our Group Volunteer Experience. We provide an exceptional corporate team building experience where your team will walk away with gained knowledge of how bikes work and how to do basic repairs, they’ll have fun working together, and will leave feeling fulfilled by assisting us with serving those most in need in our community. Our peak season for hosting groups is October through March. Other options may be possible so please give us a call at 608-405-0385 to explore options if your timing does not fit within this window. The group above hosted their team day in September. 

Below are the steps to get on our Group Volunteer Experience calendar. 

1) Visit our Volunteer Page and view the calendar near the bottom of the page. Here, you’ll be able to view the availability and open dates on the calendar. Typically, we host Corporate Teams on Friday afternoons from 10:15 am – 3:30pm. There is some flexibility so feel free to suggest other options when you reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Ben Andrews. 

2) Determine your team size. Small groups run from 4-6 people with a suggested donation of $150. Large groups are 7-12 people with a suggested donation of $300. Your donation provides support for staff members to help educate your team members, to provide a tour of the facility, and to provide refreshments (beverages and snacks) for your group. 

If you’d like us to order pizza or arrange a boxed lunch, please ask! We’ve done everything from hosting a corporate birthday party, hosting themed events, and ended with group bike rides after your shift. 

As you can see in the photo above, we can also accommodate larger groups up to 40 with additional financial support or upon special request. Please share what you’re looking for and we’ll come up with a solution that will be memorable and meaningful. 

3) After you have chosen a couple of dates, contact Ben Andrews by email (ride@bikesforkidswi.org) or phone at 608-405-0385 to lock in the date. Please note that we cannot book groups through Facebook messenger or other social media messaging apps. Calling or Emailing us works best. 

4) When you arrive, we’ll ask that you park across the street (see the parking area behind the crowd in the photo above). We will have a parking sign out for you. 

5) If you have 3 or fewer people, please feel free to sign up for volunteer shifts on the Volunteer Page by clicking on the Sign Up button. It’s always helpful if you give us a call and let us know you are a group together so we can be sure to make space arrangements ahead of your arrival.
