Bikes for Kids WI Annual Meeting in August

This August (date TBD), Bikes for Kids Wisconsin’s Board of Directors will host the annual meeting. The Annual Meeting is a yearly gathering required by state law and organizational bylaws where the Board of Directors convene to administer essential governance tasks. Key activities will include electing board members and officers, reviewing financial performance, adopting the 2026-2027 budget, evaluating strategic progress, and setting goals for the upcoming year. 

The meeting will take place in the Bikes for Kids WI board room at the Madison Marriott South located at 706 John Nolen Drive, Madison, WI 53713.

In the past year, some of the organization’s accomplishments include launching two new programs, Meals on 2 Wheels grocery delivery service and the Guided Rides summer series for youth. Bikes for Kids Wisconsin added a part-time Communications Coordinator to their team in January 2026. Spring and summer of 2026 is the third season of moving into the bike retail and repair market for the public which has helped the organization develop a critical earned revenue stream while providing low-cost access to bikes and repairs in the community. 

Impacts to Date Include: 

  • 15,977 bicycles distributed throughout Wisconsin
  • $3.5 million invested in Wisconsin communities through bikes, mechanical repairs, and safety equipment
  • 480,000 lbs of materials diverted from landfills through reuse and recycling through the Big Breakdown events
  • 16 Wisconsin counties served
  • Approximately 5,000 individuals served annually
  • 297 Bike Distribution Partners served; these are other 501c3 nonprofit organizations, public schools, and tribes that identify the bike recipients each year
  • Regularly harnessing an essential volunteer workforce of 250+ individuals
  • Hosted 23 Corporate Teams of Volunteers

  • In 2026, the organization joined Community Shares of Wisconsin
  • Awarded the 2025 Dane County Climate Champion Catalyst Award
  • Awarded the 2026 Wisconsin Recycling Excellence Award through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
  • Nominated for Outdoor Business of the Year by the Wisconsin Office of Outdoor Recreation
  • Nominated for Best Bike Shop by Madison Magazine
